Patients who are going to have a knee or hip replaced will participate in a "Joint Camp." During this session, patients will meet with a member of each of the different departments that will be involved in the surgical and recovery journey. This includes surgical nurses, certified nurse anesthetists, physical therapists, social services, and others. Patients will also have the opportunity to tour the facility, and will learn what to expect before, during and after surgery.Recovery Options
Mile Bluff provides several recovery options for patients to utilize after a joint replacement.Hess Home Health
services may be appropriate if a patient needs to receive in-home skilled nursing or skilled rehabilitation. Hess Home Health is a state-licensed and Medicare-certified home health agency. Registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and home health aids may come to help a patient with walking, strengthening exercises, daily living tasks and safety issues. Patients must meet the Medicare requirements for homebound status to qualify for this service.
Short-term rehabilitation stays are also available in our nursing homes. Some patients need more assistance and access to medical services than what can be provided in the home. These services may include daily skilled nursing care and additional rehabilitation. In a skilled nursing or rehabilitation facility, patients can continue rehabilitation programs and have medical needs monitored until they can safely return home.
