Mile Bluff Medical Center Foundation has received a $100,000 donation from local residents and business owners, Jeff and Molly Scully, to support Mile Bluff’s Gateway Center and Emergency Department expansion project.
Since the beginning of the year, Mile Bluff has been transforming the former Mauston Shopko building into a new home for healthcare excellence. Now referred to as the ‘Gateway Center,’ the 26,000 square foot building will serve as the new location for Mile Bluff’s Mauston dialysis unit, urgent care clinic, and retail pharmacy. Once urgent care services are relocated, Mile Bluff will embark on the second phase of this $17 million building project by remodeling the current Emergency Department. These new spaces will improve efficiency, privacy, safety and the overall experience for both patients and staff members.
“Healthcare services contribute to a stable and thriving community and serve as an economic driver,” remarked Jeff Scully. “Having the new Gateway Center located along the main thoroughfare will not only give Mile Bluff excellent visibility in our community, especially for the developing lake area, but also give the pharmacy much better access for customers.”
Hospitals are often considered anchor institutions, meaning they are rooted in their communities and have a significant impact on the community’s health and wellbeing.
“If you need medical attention, it’s imperative to get to a hospital quickly, and to have that facility contain the staff and equipment needed to resolve your problem,” said Jeff. “Having such an important resource as Mile Bluff, located in the heart of our community, is priceless. We are fortunate to have access to quality healthcare so close to home.”
To support this expansion initiative, Mile Bluff Medical Center Foundation is leading a capital fundraising campaign – For You. With You. – with the goal of raising $5 million. The campaign is an opportunity for individuals and businesses, like the Scullys, to help strengthen local healthcare for the community.
Believing in the importance of local healthcare, Jeff and Molly decided to make a commitment to the fundraising campaign. “Supporting this campaign not only strengthens the hospital, but also promotes the long-term health and sustainability of our entire community,” affirmed Jeff.
“The For You. With You. campaign really is an opportunity to support the health of the community now and into the future,” added Katie Nuttall, foundation director. “Mile Bluff takes great pride in providing patients with healthcare services at every stage of life. We’re a forward-thinking organization that adapts and grows to fit the needs of those we serve.”
Katie continued, “Similarly, donors look to the future with the goal being to be part of something bigger than themselves. They use their gifts to make a difference for others, and that is where there is a beautiful crossover between healthcare and philanthropy. Jeff and Molly’s generous contribution demonstrates their desire to ensure their family, employees, and the community overall, continue to have access to convenient, local healthcare services.”
Mile Bluff Medical Center has been serving the community since 1893. Mile Bluff provides primary care at five clinic locations across Juneau County in addition to providing a wide array of hospital and specialty care services. Taking a community-first approach to healthcare to ensure that Mile Bluff continues to provide the services needed by patients, now and into the future.
Investing in rural healthcare is essential to keeping our communities strong for years to come. If you would like to join Jeff and Molly in supporting the Gateway and Emergency Department expansion project, Mile Bluff Medical Center Foundation welcomes contributions of any size and offers the option to make a financial commitment over time. In addition, for those who wish to honor a loved one or to create a legacy, naming opportunities are available.
