Medical Imaging
State-of-the-Art Diagnostics at Mile Bluff Medical Center
Complete medical imaging services are available in Mauston to diagnose
and treat patients. Images are produced by state-of-the-art equipment,
and are stored digitally. This allows staff members to easily share vital
information with other key healthcare providers, in order to quickly meet
patients' needs.
Mile Bluff provides the following imaging services:
-
Bone density scan can detect osteoporosis. This condition causes bones to become weak,
fragile, and brittle, putting you at risk for bone breaks and fractures.
-
CT scans are useful because they can show several types of tissue - including lung,
bone, soft tissue, and blood vessels - in great detail. This allows the
radiologists to more easily diagnoses cancer, cardiovascular disease,
lung cancer, infectious disease, trauma and musculoskeletal disorders.
-
3D mammography is a screening tool used to look for breast cancer. The technology provides
clear, detailed images, regardless of breast tissue density. The accuracy
of the images allows radiologists to detect smaller cancers sooner, and
also decreases the chance of false-positive results and call-backs for
additional imaging tests.
-
Interventional radiology provides minimally-invasive image-guided diagnosis and treatment of disease
in every organ system.
-
Fluoroscopy is often used to diagnose conditions of the upper gastrointestinal tract,
lower gastrointestinal tract and esophagus.
-
MRI can detect disease in the early stages without a need for surgery. This
non-invasive procedure allows radiologists to examine bones and soft tissue.
-
PET scan technology is available at Mile Bluff through a portable unit. It measures
important body functions such as blood flow and oxygen use.
-
Ultrasound is often used during pregnancy, but can also be used to detect small lesions
in the breast and other tissues.
-
Virtual colonoscopy is a procedure that uses a CT scan to produce detailed images of the inside
of the colon and rectum.
-
X-ray uses radiation to produce images of the spine, abdomen, chest, pelvis
and other extremities. This service is also available in Elroy, Lake Delton,
Necedah and New Lisbon.
