When it comes to your labor and delivery, you deserve to have access to a modern facility that has the team and equipment to safely care for you and your baby.
Our physicians, midwife, and nurses specialize in assisting you at every stage of pregnancy. From prenatal care, through delivery, and beyond—we work with you to customize your experience to make it the best that it can be.
At Mile Bluff, we are committed to providing a calm and welcoming environment for your birth experience. Our Birthing Center offers a range of comforting features, including labor and delivery tubs, home-like birthing suites, and both traditional and alternative pain management options.
One of the unique aspects of our Birthing Center is that you remain in the same room throughout your entire stay—from the moment you arrive, through labor, delivery, and recovery. This continuity helps promote relaxation, reduce stress, and gives you a greater sense of control during your birth experience. There’s no need to move between rooms as your labor progresses or during postpartum recovery. Our private, spacious birthing suites are designed to be your sanctuary for the entire journey.
After baby is born, they’ll stay with you in the same room throughout your stay, allowing you to bond with them and not be separated.
We support all the ways patients wish to welcome their new baby—from experiencing a water birth to exploring alternatives to an epidural for pain management. Our thoughtful and caring team believes pregnancy, labor, and delivery should follow the patient’s wishes whenever safely possible, and should never be limited to a one-size-fits-all plan.

Vaginal Delivery: Vaginal delivery is the most common method of childbirth, in which the baby is born through the birth canal. This type of delivery typically involves fewer risks and a shorter recovery time compared to other methods. Vaginal delivery can take place with or without pain medication or an epidural and in any position the patient chooses, safety permitting. During your pregnancy, you can discuss various options with your provider to help personalize your delivery experience. At Mile Bluff, we are here to support and guide you through every step of the process to ensure a safe and positive experience for both you and your baby.
Water Birth: Water birth offers a unique labor and delivery option for patients with low-risk pregnancies. The warm water can have a calming and relaxing effect, helping you feel more comfortable during labor. It also allows for easier movement and position changes without the need for medical intervention. Additionally, water provides your baby with a warm, gentle environment for a smoother transition from the womb to the outside world. Please visit our Water Birth page for more information, and talk with your provider to determine if water birth is the right choice for you.
Cesarean Section (C-Section): A cesarean section, or C-section, is a surgical procedure where the baby is delivered through an incision in the abdomen and uterus. While typically planned for medical reasons or in cases of complications during labor, it can also be performed in emergency situations. At Mile Bluff, we offer support throughout the process and focus on a smooth recovery afterward.
Family-Centered C-Section: Sometimes, a C-section is the best choice for delivery. For patients having a planned, non-emergency surgical delivery, we offer Family-Centered C-Sections. This option slows down the traditional surgical process, increases comfort, and emphasizes family involvement. As a result, it feels less like major surgery and more like a natural birth experience.
All of our delivering providers routinely practice delayed cord clamping, regardless of the method of delivery, as long as it is safe for your baby. Additionally, we are committed to promoting skin-to-skin contact and will place your baby on your chest as soon as possible, with minimal interruptions during that important first hour of life.
At Mile Bluff, we understand that every labor experience is unique. We are proud to offer a range of Pain Management Options, both non-medicated and medicated, to help you feel supported and comfortable throughout your birth experience. You and your provider will work together to choose the approach that best aligns with your preferences and medical history.
At Mile Bluff, we prioritize the importance of early bonding between you and your baby. We encourage you to keep your baby with you in your room, allowing for skin-to-skin contact and uninterrupted bonding time. This promotes your baby’s emotional and physical well-being and strengthens the connection between you both.
Our Birthing Center is designed to allow you to experience this special time without the need to send your baby to a nursery. However, we understand that the first few days with a newborn can be overwhelming at times, and you may need some time to rest or take a break. If you ever feel the need to step away or have a moment for yourself, your baby can spend some time in our nursery under the care of our trained staff, giving you a chance to recharge and relax.
Family and friends are welcome to visit any time. Visitors can use the main hospital entrance during normal visiting hours. If it's after hours, they may enter through the Emergency Department.
All visitors must check in at the hospital's main nurses' station. The unit coordinator will contact the Birthing Center to confirm whether or not you are able to take visitors at that time. When able, a nurse from the Birthing Center will escort your visitors to your room.
You have the right to decide who visits you.
Additional Information: Typically, your newborn is the only child permitted to stay overnight with you in the Birthing Center.
